The newest member of MDC, with plenty of dance experience, you may see him around your school in all sorts of sessions. We got to know all about his dance life here in this exclusive interview.
What first inspired you to dance ?
A - During my teenage years, I could have fallen into the wrong crowd, but a friend of mine introduced me to the world of dance and it changed my life.
What does it feel like when you perform ?
A - I'm in the spotlight, and it's my time to shine. When I perform it's like nothing else I've ever felt before - I'm full of confidence and adrenaline.
You have danced quite a lot around the Wigan area and many people have seen you perform. Have people changed towards you now because your a dancer ?
A - (laughs) Sometimes when I'm walking through town I can hear people whispering 'There's that break dancer'. It's funny because I'm just me, but it's great to have the recognition.
What is your favourite food ?
A - Lasagne.
What is your worst food?
A - Turkish Delight.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years time ?
A - Hopefully travelling and winning big competitions as a performer. The main plan is to make a hip hop culture in Wigan and I feel like I'm on the right track to do it.
What is your biggest indulgence ? Or guilty pleasure ?
A - (thinks long and hard) Ballet.
If you hadn't chose dance, what would you be doing now as a career ?
A - I'd most probably be an electrician. That's what I was studying to be before I found dance.
What is your favourite hobby other than dancing ?
A - At the moment its Scuba Diving, I love it! I've only done it for a few weeks but its amazing.
What is something about you that may shock people ?
A - For a long time I have suffered with anxiety. But when I dance, all of those feelings fade away and I become the confident, adrenaline filled guy I mentioned earlier. Dance literally has saved my life.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to go into dance, whether it be as a coach or as a performer, or both like yourself ?
A - In my experience I would say if you have the drive and motivation to do something then go for it! My advice would be to never let anyone tell you that you are not good enough, you should always focus on what matters to you.
